Pamelya’s Legislative Highlights

Healthcare

Pamelya voted for House Bill 4 in 2026, which directs a larger share of insurance premium surtax revenue to New Mexico’s Health Care Affordability Fund beginning in 2027, with another increase in 2028. The legislation became law on March 6, 2026.

Opportunity Scholarship

Pamelya voted for the Opportunity Scholarship Act in 2022, helping eligible New Mexico residents cover tuition and fees at public colleges, universities, and tribal colleges. The legislation became law on March 4, 2022.

Universal Childcare

Pamelya supported New Mexico’s free universal child care program and strengthen access to quality care, so families can find the care they need, parents can work or pursue an education, and children have a strong start.

Gun Safety

Pamelya sponsored House Bill 9 in 2023, which established criminal penalties when negligent firearm storage allows a minor to obtain a gun and use it to threaten or injure someone. The legislation became law on March 14, 2023.

Put children’s safety first through stronger oversight, clear accountability, and better support for caseworkers, foster families, and relatives raising children. Help families receive support earlier, and make safe, stable homes the priority for every child in state care.
