ECONOMY

Progress on economy

Helping strengthen the economy and fight inflation that impacts families are among Pamelya Herndon’s highest priorities. Pamelya has taken action to better the economy by:

  • eliminating the tax on Social Security income
  • cutting the gross receipts tax
  • passing $500 to $1,000 rebates to help working families
  • reducing taxes on pensions for members of America’s armed services
  • expanding the working families and child tax credits

Pamelya supports reforming the tax code that levels the playing field so every New Mexican can thrive, not just the wealthy. She voted for laws to lift families out of poverty, stimulate spending in local economies, and protect New Mexico's home-grown businesses and investments.

In addition she will repeal tax cuts that have not produced additional jobs or economic stability, provide incentives to companies working on renewable energy technology, and companies who grow the skilled labor base in our state by opening doors for women to enter skilled trades.

When re-elected she will pass legislation to help grow what already works in our state like aerospace, film & television production, tourism, and green energy. She will be a champion for innovative job programs to strengthen our economy, support small businesses, and bring new industries to New Mexico.
